In a curious turn of events, the youth has baptized the minister.

Today was or last day of work here in Smith River. We gathered in our teams to enjoy root beer floats and share affirmations. It is amazing the work we have gotten done in just one week and even more amazing is the bonds we have made with each other. Very different people came together and formed beloved community. We did it here, we should be able to do it anywhere. Perhaps working for others is the key.

Thank you for the cards, letters, and care package! We had to sing The Reindeer Song and Baby Shark to get them.

Well, it's already Thursday! We have one more day of work. Some of us will complete projects. Others of us will wrap up or work and leave notes and a prepared worksite for next week's teams. Please enjoy these pictures of us at work and play...

Here we are at SSP.  We are working many kinds of jobs, roofing, painting, building a fence, constructing stairs.  On Wednesday we went to Jedediah Smith State Park to swim in the river and hike through the redwoods.

One month to go!

In one month, ten youth and two adults from Ladera Community Church will be heading for Smith River, CA to build, repair, and improve homes and facilities with other youth from all over the western US and community members.  We will use this blog to let you know what we are doing as we prepare, on our journey, and after we return.

So join us on our journey!
